Hi, I'm Alexa Pastor, a Senior Editor at Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers.

About Me

I joined Simon & Schuster in August of 2014, eventually moving into my role as Senior Editor at Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers in 2021 . During that time, I have been fortunate enough to work on rewarding stories across all age ranges, including Goodreads Choice Award winner and #1 New York Times bestseller Five Feet Apart, New York Times bestsellers All This Time and Kamala Harris: Rooted In Justice, Herstory (a Publishers Weekly Best of the Year pick), Naomi Klein's How to Change Everything (a SLJ Best of the Year pick) as well as projects by incredible debuts and industry voices including Ben Clanton, Kathleen Krull, Caroline Kusin Pritchard, Marisa Kanter, Leah Henderson, and Amy Makechnie. Prior to landing my dream job, I interned at both Bloomsbury Children’s Books and Running Press Kids, was a bookseller at Barnes and Noble, and graduated summa cum laude from Villanova University (Go ‘Cats!). I also completed my master’s degree in children’s and young adult publishing at Rosemont College in 2015. I am acquiring picture books, middle grade, and YA that have a new take on a strong commercial concept, with fresh, honest voices that demand to be heard and a unique approach to structure or perspective - always with a hefty dose of emotional impact.
